A hearty welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering of JSPM’s Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering (RSCOE), Pune. RSCOE is one of the best institutions of India, ranked recently by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF2025) in a band of 151-200 for Engineering & Technology. The Civil Engineering Department was established in 2003. The department offers one undergraduate program (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60, Postgraduate Program (M.Tech.) in Structural Engineering with an intake 24. The Civil Engineering Department is also a recognized Ph.D. Research Center affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. 34 Research Scholars are registered under the Ph.D. Program. UG program (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering has been accredited 4 times since 2012 and PG Program (M.Tech.) in Structural Engineering accredited by National Board of accreditation (NBA) in 2023. The curriculum is designed to make the students industry-ready and foster a curiosity amongst them to pursue research in the vast and diverse fields of Civil Engineering. 3600 developments of our students are emphasized with the experiential learning, agile curriculum catering to Industry need and multidisciplinary approach. Department of Civil Engineering is keen to inculcate empathy in the students as person and the citizen of India. The department has proficient and dedicated faculty members. Our experienced faculty members are committed towards excellence in teaching and research. The research work of faculty members encompasses outreach Community Engineering Projects along with foreign University Collaborations. The department is also associated with professional bodies like American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Indian Waterworks Association (IWWA), Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF), Builders Association of India (BAI) Pune Chapter. The department students get tangible benefits such as expanded reach, new capabilities, shared expertise and increased efficiency as an outcome of the MOUs with well-known industries and research institutes. “Shaashwat Eco sustainability Club” was started by our alumnus with the vision to inculcate the sustainable practices and awareness of SDGs amongst the students. The department demonstrates its commitment to the community through a variety of projects that provides sustainable infrastructure, enhances public well being and addresses local environmental issues. Some of the projects in the respect are:

  1. Long lasting Dhoop batti/ Insects repellent from Organic Solid Waste for Sustainable Income Generation, under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan- Ministry of Education, India (2023-2025).
  2. Digital Water Management at Village Gahunje in partnership with Earthsight Foundation, BHUJAL App, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapith Rahuri, Foundation for Environment Monitoring (2024-25).
  3. Empowering Rural Women: Sustainable Income Generation Through Eco-friendly Brick/Paver Block Manufacturing Via Plastic Recycling in association with EPICS, Purdue University, USA (2024-25).
  4. Optimistic solution for traffic congestion in PCMC area in association with “Jaldindi Pratishtan” NGO (2024-25).

Ongoing projects:

  1. AgriNova: Enhancing Crop Yield Using Image Processing, Automation, and Data-Driven Vertical Farming in association with EPICS, Purdue University, USA
  2. Smart Alert System for Bridge Collapse in association with EPICS, Purdue University, USA
  3. Empowering Rural Women: Sustainable Income Generation Through Eco-friendly Brick Manufacturing via Plastic Recycling sponsored by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA2.0) program

The Alumni of the department are serving in Government organizations (Public Work Department, Town Planning, Land and Acquisition Department, Water Resource Department, Airport Authority of India) and reputed Industries across the globe.

The department offers one undergraduate program (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 and a postgraduate program (M.Tech.) in Structural Engineering with an intake of 24. A total of 34 research scholars are registered under the Ph.D. program.
